I think Girlvet is morphing into me
Being unwilling middlemen in someone's drug addiction is not the reason we got into nursing, so it's no surprise that it contributes to burn-out when we're expected to abide by unreasonable and dangerous orders that have no basis in sound medical practices. Yes, you should refuse, dammit.

It is not just the ER that has to struggle with crazy physician orders. I wrote about how to refuse a physician order, but it can be really hard to do in real time. Two nurses in Texas were recently fired for outing a physician for dangerous practices. Stay strong nurses!

Sorry,

I started to wonder why these two nurses did not follow their internal chain of command instead of taking it to the Texas Medical Board... but then I looked up Winkler County Memorial Hospital and found that it had 13 beds.
That's just too small. The chain of command was probably one link long...
I am surprised that Happy hasn't shown up in here yet harping that "doc-tor write or-der, nurse follow. Nurse not have training, oops education to think for herself"
I am employed in a work at will state and could be fired for doing such a thing. Maybe unionized nurses are more protected. Going to our state nursing association for support...please. Put a match to that check and light it.
And it's even sadder when your co-workers are "why the drama" and "oh well".
Very frustating.
Most people who have been diagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety have probably been prescribed modern anti-depression and anxiety medications such as Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft, Paxil and other SSRI related medications which seem to be the favorite choice of every modern doctor of the 21st century.
Unfortunately these new anti-anxiety and depression medications do not come without side effects and only a small percentage of its users reports that these medications do indeed balance their moods to the point where they can say they truly feel comfortable over longer periods of time.
One of the most common experienced side-effect of SSRI’s is decreased sexual appetite which in turn is often treated with other commercial medications such as Viagra, Uprima or Cialis. It is also known that people who suffer chronic depression are more sensitive to pain and the other way around people who suffer severe chronic pain are likely to become depressed due to disturbed chemical balances in the brain.
Drug, what in the hot, steaming fuck are you talking about?
